World Wrestling Diva: Christy Hemme
Christy Hemme is taking the world by storm. Not only is she one of the beautiful Divas of World Wrestling Entertainment, she is appearing on more magazine covers daily. Since winning the WWE Diva Search Contest, Hemme has become one of the most popular Divas in world wrestling. She has appeared in numerous magazines like Rolling Stone, Maxim, Stuff, Muscle and Muscle & Fitness. Christy Hemme was born and raised in Temecula, CA. She says her family has and always will be first and foremost in her life.
Her father introduced Hemme to sports at an early age getting her involved in snowboarding, wakeboarding, riding jet skis and motorcycling. "He made me strong ambitious and independent. My mother was sweet, compassionate, caring and filled with love and passion. I didn't really learn how to have that depth in my soul until she passed away." Hemme says her mother's passing taught her much about what mattered most in life. "These past 2 years have been the saddest and happiest years, but I thank God everyday for having her heart open inside me."
She says growing up wasn't easy, but her family always provided the support she needed. "I was a real dork in school, kind of shy and quiet. But when I got home, I was outgoing and loud. I always knew my career path would be in the entertainment business, so confidence was essential." She moved to LA when she was 18 years old where she started doing bikini modeling for calendars, posters, car ads and Hawaiian Tropic. "I got very bored. After being in LA for about 6 months, I met a girl named Lisa Ligon who was putting together a group of women who were going to Sturgis South Dakota for the biggest biker rally of the year to promote themselves. When we got back, we decided to put a dance team together and try to market ourselves. I was only a model, so the girls spent hours training me, and I worked hard to fit years of dance training needed to be in this group of talented girls, in a very short time. Lucky for me, I picked it up quickly since I have natural dance ability, a cheerleading background and I'm very athletic. We named ourselves Purrfect Angelz. The group picked up a tour with Easyriders Magazine and we opened up for headliner bands at biker rallies around the nation. We also helped with the popular Biker Build Off show on the Discovery Channel. I toured with my mentors and best friends for five years. From being involved with this group, I gained a passion for performing."
Hemme is also an avid biker, a love she inherited from her father. "Going to bike rallies became a huge release in my life. I got my first Harley (1200 Sportster) when I was 21 and recently got a Dyna lowrider. My favorite trip of every year is Sturgis Bike Rally and this year will be my 7th year attending."
Hemme also had an interest in wrestling at an early age. "Undertaker was my hero and as I got older, I got into the fitness world and became a huge fan of Trish Stratus." She competed in fitness figure divisions of fitness competitions, did fitness conventions and modeled for fitness companies and magazines. Originally, when Hemme first moved to LA, she inquired about being a Diva and was told she wasn't what they were looking for because she was too small. Last June, she saw the ads for the upcoming Diva Search.
"Something in my gut told me that this was what I had been waiting for. Every aspect of the show appealed to my personality and dreams, energy, love of performing, traveling, it had a family atmosphere, had a following of committed fans and there was room for growth in the company. I knew in my heart from the first audition that there was something very special about it."
Hemme competed against a field of 8,000 female applicants. "Each week, they would give us a task and America would vote one girl off each week. Until it came down to one ... me... Yeah!!! I was immediately swept off to Cancun where the Diva Swimsuit Magazine was a show, a magazine I had admired for years."
"With everything that has happened for me in these past two years both in my heart and my career, I couldn't be more thankful. I just want to hug everyone around me and say thank you. Thank you to the fans that voted for me, thank you to WWE, my Purrfect Angelz and family and friends for supporting me, but most of all thank you to my mom for watching over me."
